It’s blue week and the thing that helps me say goodbye to the blues the most is reading (well and the idea of a full time nanny/housekeeper- I can dream right??). It got me through late night nursing sessions, middle of the night insomnia wakings, and the last case of the flu. Currently I participate in three book clubs and if I could spend all day reading, I probably would.

What’s your go to for kicking the blues? My second choice is definitely fashion or antiques or both- see that vintage clutch?!?! I’m also loving this blue lace up tee from Amelia James: a fun twist on a classic style. I’m not feeling particularly wordy lately but when the pieces are this good maybe it’s best to let them speak for themselves.

What I’m reading right now:

All the Missing Girls by Megan Miranda

Good if you’re looking for suspense. It’s kind of written backwards which is an interesting if somewhat confusing writing technique. I’m almost to the end and I still have no idea what’s going to happen which is very rare (without unpredictable plot twists).

Love and Gelato by Jenna Evans Welch

Though this one starts off with some serious subject matter, it’s a pretty fluffy read. Definitely a YA fiction reader and the ending left a little something to be desired (too many loose ends wrapped up in a pretty bow for me). Check out my instagram for a discussion of this book soon!

Little Fires Everywhere by Celeste Ng

I haven’t gotten past the free preview but it has a promising premise and I’m looking forward to delving into it with the local book ladies!

Favorite read last month:

Beasts of Extraordinary Circumstance by Ruth Emmie Lang

With a lot of fantasy and a little bit of real life, this one was an interesting read through and through. It portrays the life of a man born with extraordinary abilities that sometimes overwhelmed even him. It’s a story of human nature, love, and the bounds of imagination.

  3. All the Missing Girls sounds like a good book! I love suspense but haven’t read one in quit awhile! I miss reading so thank you for inspiring me to look into my next book!

  4. You are looking absolutely fashionable and like nothing brings me more joy than fashion and antiques. I love that blue top.

  5. I love the vibrant color of your top! I also love to read, but it’s taken so much of a backseat since becoming a mom!! These are great suggestions that I’ll add to my list!

    1. Yes! I like to read on the spur so I do it while waiting at appointments or when I can’t sleep or holding a sleeping baby. Definitely not hours sitting alone doing nothing…one day maybe..

  6. I love your blue top, that is my kind of blue. Thank you for these recommendation on books.

    1. Lol I’ll share when I find the secret to life (I think it’s college….as in when we send them ???)
