Fall is just flying by…literally. With my trip to LA (more on that coming soon) taking up most of my attention this year, I had to squeeze in the fun here there and anywhere. Between the rain and wacky Virginia heat, this year just didn’t feel the same. But, we did tick off the fall bucket list even if it was short.

Topping the list? Apple picking. Farm fun. And, Halloween spooktacular-ness. We haven’t finished celebrating that last one (but have had some kid friendly spooky movie fests and prepared costumes and parties alike). We checked off that first one in the midst of a heat wave and an alarming lack of apples (seriously where were all the Nittanys???). So shield your eyes while you view the blinding whites (note to self, wear a tank top under white tops on sunny days even if you do top it with a vest- oops).

Sweater c/o Mint Julep Boutique (don’t forget to subscribe to email for 10% off your first order)

Leggings: old but my faves from Costco (you have to buy them in store by Felina- they’re sooo soft); Scarf: old as sin (or two years whatev) from the Target- haven’t seen anything similar yet this year!

It’s not a surprise we both chose our water friendly Jambu’s to hit the mud on our farm day. Find my husband’s boots here. Same codes apply. Also, that fab flannel was gifted from Ecoths a division of Aventura Clothing.

Conversely, our fall farm fun day (say that 10 times fast), coincided with the first really cold morning of the season. Thank goodness for scarves and sunshine. Luckily it warmed up quite a bit and we were able to frolic in the corn maze and cheer on our favorite pigs as they raced around the tracks.

As we head into the end of fall, I feel like a round up of fall to winter essentials is in order. Here’s what you should have in your closet to make it through the wind and the snow.

  1. Scarves.

  2. Tall boots.

  3. Booties.

  4. Water proof everything. And, when I say water proof, I mean mud proof: Jambu’s Colorado Encore are perfect for all your fall and winter outdoor adventures.

  5. Vests.

  6. Cardigans.

  7. Cozy sweaters.

  8. Thick socks.

  9. Cute beanies.

  10. Skinny jeans.

  11. Light jackets.

  12. Heavy jackets.

  13. Layering tanks and tees (I don’t prefer long sleeves for layering most of the time but you might need all the warmth where you are).

  14. A good pair of sunnies. Who knew winter sun could be brighter than summer rays?

What tops your cool weather essentials list? Have you knocked out your fall bucket list? We’re getting there and thankfully the temps are cooperating just in time for a spooktacular Halloween.

PS Just in case you’re wondering, I like to link to my favorite things. I’m not affiliated and though I wish I did, I don’t make any money when you click my links. I also don’t get paid to post. Brands gift me free gear but I only post the things I like. I’ll let you know if I ever get paid in anything other than shoes and sweaters!
