This post was sponsored by Lorena Canals Rugs. They sent me this Washable Vintage Map Rug and this Plus sign floor cushion for my review. I was not otherwise compensated. All thoughts and opinions are always my own!
In the middle of my home. On the floor. Snuggled up with my babes. Laughing and joking and doing (some) schoolwork (but not too much- I’m of the mindset play is the best form of learning). I am obsessed with the word love. I have it plastered all over my house. Yet whenever I go looking for it outside these four walls, I come back empty handed. Because now, those hands are meant to be filled with little fingers.
Homeschooling is a challenge especially with toddlers at home. But, I’m hoping that it also helps us teach our kids that pinpointing love is as easy as touching the space our home occupies on a map. Family, laughter, love, memories are not things that can be taught. And, what good is knowing your letters if you don’t know what love feels like?
When I arranged this collaboration with my favorite rug company (for real no joke, I wouldn’t keep going back for more if Lorena Canals rugs weren’t so freaking fab), I thought I was going to do a makeover post. But, my heart was just not in it (no pun intended). So I’ll give you a quick catch up on what we’re up to and why I love these rugs so much.
First, the kids are loving school. In fact, they love it so much that even the four year old (who stays home) insists I don’t miss a day of lessons with him while the older ones are away. He loves playing with all the cool learning things we’ve gathered over the years (stay tuned for a sneak peek at some educational toys from Lakeshore Learning coming to the blog soon).
Second, we’ve tried again to add an extracurricular to our schedule. I haven’t mentioned this here but we’ve done it all. Little gym (and then little gym dance), gymnastics at a gym, soccer, ballet, horseback riding, Irish dance, art, and more. But, we just cannot seem to stick with anything. This year we decided we’re going to commit to gymnastics. Then, no joke, our third class in we get there and the doors are locked (like the owner was locked out). I’m not exactly sure what’s going on but it seems like maybe we need to keep on looking. Anyone else find extracurricular activities a pain? I want one that meets once a week, doesn’t cost an arm and a leg, doesn’t include a recital, and doesn’t involve weekend games. Apparently, this is too much to ask. If you have any suggestions, send them my way. I’m considering karate but so far, I’m the only one who seems to like that idea.
And, now to the important stuff. Lorena Canals Rugs. I love them. Why? They’re washable and soft. Really, that’s all I want out of most things in life. If you had four kids, a hedgehog, part time dog, bunny, three turtles, a handful of fish, and dust mite allergies, that’s all you’d want too. The thing that really seals the deal for me is how adorable the designs are. I was so excited when they came out with this gorgeous vintage map design for back to school this year. Yes, that’s a plus sign floor cushion sitting on top of the Atlantic Ocean. Anything that makes our home more cozy and gives us more space to incorporate learning is perfect for us. If you want to see more options to make your living space kid, pet, and allergy friendly, check out this post (with a neutral rug) or this one (the original map), or this playroom makeover I did (the vintage map rug will eventually migrate into our homeschool room but I need to clean that first). There’s a theme here and it really begins and ends with how much I love Lorena Canals and the concept of washable floor coverings– it’s beyond genius.
That’s our life update for now (at least as far as activities go). I have more coming on my trip to LA (if you know me, you’re doing a double take right now because that involves all the things I don’t do, starting with actually leaving my house and family). And, a ton more shoes to share.
Until next time,

At least you tried with gymnastics this year! I think karate sounds cool! And I LOVE the idea of washable rugs! We have carpet in most of our home, but I am seriously considering these if we ever make over our eating space for an under the table rug!
Or I might just put the rug on carpet because there are so many beautiful ones to choose from and hello…washable!
Yeees I think it would be good for that too. I want to get rid of all our upstairs carpet and go with hardwood and rugs. I love them.
Thanks Vanessa! I am for sure going to have to start the search again!
What a cute rug for your home! The kiddos seem to LOVE it too!! I bet the extracurriculars are a pain but you are doing great, super mama!!
Have a great week, Jamie! 🙂
You had me at washable. That rug is so cute and perfect for little kiddos. I love the map and how it would encourage kids to use their imagination and play a bit more. I still don’t know how you do it all girl!
