I didn’t really pick any super casual pieces for this 5×5 (missed the intro and how to? Click here) and that’s great because that’s what my goal has always been for this blog: to pull me out of the mom slump. You know what I’m talking about, that pit of leggings and tank tops and flip flops that you feel like you may never dig yourself out of. That’s why all the pieces I chose for this were a little more put together than a long and lean tank and my sweat shorts.

Is this normally an outfit I would have worn to go see Cars 3 with my kids? Probably not. But was it comfy? Yes. 100% yes- okay well 90% because I’ve decided the wedges aren’t completely comfortable no matter how cute. Oh speaking of the shoes, I normally wouldn’t have noticed them because they’re fine shoes for a casual lounge type day. But, someone didn’t enjoy Cars 3 all that much and I ended up walking the movie theatre hallway, baby HeyJ didn’t like it either so he accompanied me (ha no but really, I can’t decide if all the movies are lame lately or I just can’t enjoy them because I spend the entire time trying to keep one or both of the boys quiet).

And, back to fashion.

Look 4 Wardrobe Pieces:

Blouse: Loft, similar

Shorts: Loft, similar

Shoes: Josef Seibel

Why I picked this: I actually bought this shirt with these shorts in mind so it was a natural pairing.

What worked about this outfit: Both items are a little more interesting than basic pieces. I love the detail on the shorts and the fabric has a nice sheen, which compliments the breezy blouse perfectly. The only thing I would have changed was to swap out the shoes. I originally planned to wear them with my yellow Earth shoes and I wish I’d stuck with them.

How I felt: Sophisticated. I felt really put together and even a little glamorous.

Cars 3 may have been a bit of a flop for me (the kids loved it minus the one who necessitated the hallway walking) but I feel like this outfit gets two thumbs up.
