If you had to pick one color to wear for the rest of your life, what would it be? For me? Grey. (I don’t think that’s surprising anyone.) Definitely grey. Especially if I could accent it with shoes and bags (my secondary color would definitely be cognac- I love how the rich brown accents cool neutrals). So here’s a confession. I love color. Everywhere but in my closet (a pop here or there is okay but everyday? I’m all about the neutrals).

Dress: Poppy & Dot (use code MOMMYINFLATS for 10% off); Shoes: Rockport
That’s how I came to pick this wall with this dress. The dress has a certain geometric structure with the color blocked sleeves against the solid body. This wall happens to be one of my favorites in town even though it always seems to be in direct sunlight no matter when we try to shoot it. The shapes and bright colors evoke happiness and beauty while providing contrast to my grey obsession.

By the way, have you been following my progress on instagram with #fashion365? This is look Day 10. I’m enjoying getting out of my comfort zone and capturing the every day even when it doesn’t include makeup (it did today but there have already been more days not so far this year- including every day I had the flu).

Check back in later this week to see how this dress fits into my mini-capsule color scheme. In the meantime, hop over to Instagram to follow our first Winter 5×5.

  1. I love the dress and it matches the background so nicely. I am going to catch up and follow your Instagram look. Thanks for sharing.

  2. I don’t wear many patterns, but I love wearing solid blocks of color. Green was actually my fave long ago but now it is purple/violet. Maybe even rose. You definitely can’t go wrong with grey! Love those shoes!

  3. We are totally opposite! I love wearing bright colors and accenting with neutrals. I also love gray! It’s my favorite neutral!

Thanks for joining #WanderingWednesday with Confessions of Parenting! 🙂
