‘Tis the season and all that. Over the next month, I plan to show you five looks for Christmas. My m.o. is definitely dresses or tunics and leggings with a little glitz thrown in there occasionally. But, mostly I’m a casual girl. I mean, I’m a mom to four and who wants to be all dressed up with nowhere to go. I decided this Christmas, I’d try to glam it up a little and my husband promised to make opportunities for me to wear them (hint hint honey, get working on that).

For my first “look,” I chose this beautiful sequined piece from Pink Blush (hot tip, Pink Blush carries clothes that transition from stretching over a baby bump to shrinking to hide postpartum lumps and slide back into place over your post post partum curves). I’d been eyeing this beauty for a while and I’m not sorry I finally took the plunge. It features a black sheath dress with a drapey sequined front. It’s comfortable and flattering and perfect for layering. So, that’s just what I did. I found four top pieces and 3 pairs of shoes (oh and bags- we can’t forget the bags!) and created 4 unique looks. This is a bit of a twist on the little black dress and you can dress it up or down with a simple pairing.

First, these layers are all comfortable for cool weather but not too stuffy for indoors. A few options for a mostly indoor event would be an oversized cardigan, a cropped sweater, or just a light shawl (repurposed blanket scarf maybe?). When you start thinking outside the box, the options are limitless. You could switch up the shoes or cardigans or bags to give yourself any number of looks all with the same dress. I even dare to say, putting this one on backwards could probably give you a completely different look (may have to try that one!). My tips for dressing up this holiday? Choose a statement piece like this dress and let it speak with subdued accessories, or throw that all out the window and pair your sequinned dress with a sequinned bomber- what can I say? I like bling.

  1. I absolutely love this dress and all the ways that you styled it!! I am 3 months post partum and super uncomfortable with the way I look, and don’t fit back into ANY of my pre-pregnancy clothes yet. I am so glad you said it hides those lumps! I am going to add this to my list.

  4. Love this so much! Glitter and glitz definitely scream holidays to me! But, I feel you – as much as I love to get all dressed up, I tend to be a casual girl most of the time. #momlife
BUT, that’s no excuse to not get up and get out every now and then! Hopefully you’ll get some fun opportunities to dress up this season! <3
