Do you really KNOW your spouse?

I’m not talking favorite color or food or even where he grew up, I mean do you know his shoe size, pant size, favorite denim cut? I do. Because I like shopping and when I can’t possibly fit one more thing in my side of the closet, I start working on his. Though this is fun for me, it’s also an exercise in love. My love language is giving, so when J mentions he needs something, it’s natural for me to hop online and order tees or denim (always Warp + Weft, use my code MOMMYINFLATS20 because I just did and got him four pairs of pants and myself some shorts for just over $300, I spend more than that at American Eagle and one brand lasts and one doesn’t, but I digress). And, not only does he appreciate my opinion in his wardrobe but I dare say, the exercise has brought us closer. I know what he likes and can predict if my first choice is probably not his (but sometimes I try anyway;).

Lately, I’ve been focusing on stocking our closet with eco friendly, quality brands. As my wardrobe shrinks (I give away clothes by the bag full and we’re not talking tall kitchen, more like heavy duty leaf bag), I have been filling in the gaps with small business, eco-conscious, entrepreneurial brands. I’m a big fan of Aventura Clothing, but they also have a brand for men: Ecoths. Both focus on eco-conscious fabrics and fair trade manufacturing. Beyond that, for each garment they sell, Ecoths donates three meals to food banks throughout the United States making buying from them good for the environment and the people. Though Ecoths starts at medium (though there’s rumors of expanding sizes this fall!), I decided to give them a try for my slim statured husband. The fabric is soft and perfectly structured for a button up. We also love the cozy fit of this sweatshirt and the active fabric with a collar which makes it great for a casual dress day.

Other favorite finds in the form of shoes: Bearpaw moccasins, Rockport dress casual, and abeo sneaks. What do I love about these brands? Comfort. When it comes to shoes, shopping for your foot is essential. Shoes that move with your step and mold to your arch make all the difference. That’s why I love abeo from The Walking Company, they focus on fitting your unique needs with neutral, flat, and high arch support.

When it comes to men’s dress shoes, my top pick is always Rockport. This pair combines casual style with a classic leather Oxford. The best part is I haven’t met a Rockport I didn’t love, they’re the shoes you need when you’re going to be spending hours on your feet.

Last up, but certainly not least in my list of favorite brands is Bearpaw. I love the structured softness of the brand. But, I also love their mission, heart, and call for service. In fact, right now they’re donating one pair of slippers to a make one patient at St Jude a little comfier for every hashtag #Bearpaw❤stjude on Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter. Get tagging, whether you’re showing off your favorite Bearpaws or just showing how you Live Life Comfortably.

Here’s my real question: do you buy your husband’s clothes? If not, I suggest you give it a try. Who knows, you might learn more than just his waist size.

  1. This is sad, but I honestly don’t even remember the last time Hubs even got new clothes. i love that you’ve been parring down your closet though and I really enjoy learning about these brands – I need to restock my closet soon!

    1. Haha that’s men for you. My brother is the same way. I do love when it’s time for a good restock. I have empty hangers right now so that’s a new thing ??

  2. I’ll buy shirts for my husband from several of his favorites places to shop online. He is tall and some shirts can be two wide in his size. He also loves the softer t-shirts rather than stiff shirts.
