Map Rug: c/o Lorena Canals

Heart Cushion: c/o Lorena Canals

Knit Lovies: Bla Bla Kids (Mermaid, Alpaca, Unicorn, Bunny in pirate costume)

It’s hard to believe we have lived in our home for going on 10 years now. We’ve toyed with the idea of moving now and again which sometimes held us back from redecorating. We kept coming back to the fact that there is just no place like home. And, though this house will never be exactly perfect (it has been a great house to grow into but we are approaching the day we will outgrow it but I don’t want to talk about it), I have finally embraced the idea that it needs to be cozy right now.

That’s why when we decided to redo the family room space (again). I decided it was out with the oh so comfy and oh so dirty shag carpet (has anyone figured out how to vacuum one successfully?!). I may have mentioned this before but I have dust mite allergies and the minute I set foot on that old rug, I could feel them creeping into my sinuses (gross). We have had so much luck with our washable rug care of Lorena Canals Rugs (read more here) so when we looked at redecorating I knew that’s what I wanted.

Since we homeschool (though we’re considering options for next year- I just can’t decide), I thought this world map pattern was perfect. And, it is. The kids love playing on it, sitting on it, rolling on it. When they’ve fully filled it with crumbs, I simply shake it out and throw it in the washer. Good as new. After so much success with Lorena Canals, I decided to try one of their accent pillows as well. The heart shape is perfect for our oh so comfy for us home. It doubles as a comfy floor cushion for sitting and playing on and as a plus it’s also washable (everything from Lorena Canals is).

I know that eventually this house will no longer comfortably hold all of us. Until then, rearranging a little furniture and a fabulous new rug makes our house a little more cozy. And, that’s a lot to love.

Stay tuned for my favorite Easter Basket Stuffers. These Bla Bla dolls are a good choice with their hand knit details and cuddly designs. Go check out the whole line including some cuddly Easter Bunnies! We love gifting our children with pieces they can pass down to their littles one day and handcrafted stuffies are perfect for that.

  1. It looks so good! I LOVE that it is machine washable. Basically, a mom’s dream! And the map is such a cool design!

I feel the same way about our home. On the one hand, I know we will outgrow it at some point, but on the other hand, we’ve made so many memories here…and the thought of actually moving makes me shudder.

Good for you for making it cozy right now!

    1. I was just thinking that as I posted this. We brought every single one of our babies home here- how will I leave it? We almost moved last year but I had a panic attack and we changed our minds! We’ve put a lot of work in here but it still has a lot of things that need to be changed/fixed.

  2. Aww! Such cute kiddos:) I want to give them all squeezes! Love the world rug too, so fuzzy looking.

    1. It’s really comfy! I’ll tell them they have remote squeezes from Alicen! ❤️❤️

    1. Yeah. I loved the shag but it was horrible. I got a headache as soon as I stepped on it. This is just as soft (maybe softer) and much better for the allergies.

    1. I think if we found the perfect home with all the things I want, we’d be ready but we just haven’t found it. I have a large “need” list lol

  3. I love redecorating but I know it’s tough especially if you’re thinking of moving! The rug looks great and seems that the kids love it too!

    1. Yes! I’m thinking of things to do in our yard this spring and then I’m like do I want to or no? But I’ve been thinking of moving for 10 years so maybe I should just admit I’m settled!

  4. I love this rug!! The colors are so beautiful on your floor. I love that you’ve lived in the house for 10 years, so many special memories!

  5. The rug looks great and when it comes to kids washable is the only way!

    1. Yep- it’s full of crumbs already haha. Thankfully a quick shake and sweep gets rid of them!

  6. This rug is gorgeous. I know my kids would love it. May I ask what other options you are considering instead of homeschooling? Tradition school?

    1. There are a couple co-op style options and like 3 or 4 Montessori. I’m not sure what I’m leaning toward. Our local public schools aren’t great so that’s mostly out!

  7. You aren’t alone with your dust mite allergies! Dust hates me (and I’m not too fond of it either haha). Glad you were able to get rid of the shad carpet and replace is with something awesome and kinder to your health!
Those pictures are precious! It seems like the redecorating is a hit with the little ones ^^. Have fun making more changes ♡♡

    1. I’m literally allergic to cleaning. Thanks! If I’m honest, I redecorate pretty often but this one was especially successful!

  8. Jamie, I absolutely love your new rug! It looks very comfy and perfect for the space. Your kids seem to like it too, they are adorable!

    1. Thanks so much Nicole!!! ❤️❤️❤️ they’re really excited to have a place to roll around!

  9. You have such a beautiful family! The rug is so beautiful and looks comfy. Love the colors too.

    1. They’re really amazing. I think if you want rugs with allergies/kids it’s the only way to go!

  10. Your kids are so cute! I love that rug and how great is it that it is machine washable? My kids have dust mite allergies as well so this brand would be perfect!

  11. We bought our house when the market was so low, so even after only living in it for 5 years, we have a significant amount of equity. We toy with the idea of selling, but honestly, it’s home. I cry just thinking about it. Home is truly where the heart is.

    1. Yes! Me too. I’m so torn. I want more space outdoors but the thought of leaving the only home my babes have known makes me all weepy!
