I thought it might be fun to start a new series and share a few of my favorite things. I’ve been blogging for well over a year and I don’t think I’ve ever done a round up quite like this (though many bloggers do) but I’ve been inspired by this outfit that includes so many of my favorite things right now that it got me thinking maybe I should share a few, and maybe they’ll become your favorites too. We’ll start with fashion and work our way through all things fab right now.

Shoes.

Comfy loafers that let me feel chic while running after all the childrens. This pair care of Eastland shoes features a unique weave design giving the classic style a little kick. Shoes that fit are essential to keeping your feet blister free. I learned this the hard way when I tried to wear a pair of brand new shoes (that I bought myself no less!) in a size wide (too big for me even though I always thought I had wide feet?) somewhere I knew I was going to be on my feet for hours on end. I came home with a foot full of blisters and couldn’t wear shoes comfortably for two weeks. These loafers were the first pair that didn’t rub me the wrong way after and that says something. I recommend really figuring out your size to keep your feet happy. Surprisingly, sizing down 1/2 size has made a world of difference in how my shoes fit and feel. The other thing I love about these shoes is their rubber tread. Gives you just that extra bit of cushioning that is essential for a comfy pair of flats.

Overalls.

I’m obsessed. I need a good pair of denim blues in full length but for now, I’m loving this black pair from The Gleam Boutique. They’re almost sold out so get them while you can. I sized up (because she was sold out of my size at the time) and it makes for a perfect fit. I also cross the back straps to keep them up since this has a low design. It’s the perfect fit for a casual brunch or just a walk to the convenience store.

Duster.

I have long been a fan of an extended cardigan but this new duster trend is really hitting home for my comfy loving self. I love that it gives your body length. I have also been enjoying knotting this waffle knit cream duster care of Amelia James (check this post to read a little more about this growing boutique’s fashion). The knot adds a bit of variety and lets you rock your style with a twist.

Coffee Grinder.

Fresh ground coffee. It’s where it’s at. I’ve been resisting the idea of purchasing a new gadget for months now. Finally, the smell of fresh ground coffee in a local store, pushed me over the edge. I bought this Krupps grinder from Amazon and I’m not looking back. Surprised I love coffee? Go check out this post and get yourself a fabulous coffee tee from another favorite: Mint Julep Boutique.

Learning Toys.

We homeschool and I firmly believe kids learn through imaginative play. In fact, if you read about successful happier cultures, you’ll find that they delay written work and focus more on encouraging exploration. These beautiful toys by Lakeshore Learning are not only high quality but they leave so much scope for the imagination and have led to many an afternoon playing outside dreaming of fairies and spaceships (visit my instagram to see more from Lakeshore). Even I have fun with the marble run, the building of which is like a puzzle and exercises the problem solving part of the brain. It may or may not have taken two adults and one nine year old half an hour to put together the mid level design (in our defense, the nine year old did put it together first before we stepped in to help at which point it was more difficult to figure out where she went wrong than starting from scratch). Besides being educational, they sometimes give me five minutes to enjoy my coffee (are you seeing a theme?) in silence and if that’s not a reason to celebrate, I don’t know what is.

Days by the pool.

It’s finally that time and though this is a hard time for our family, days by the pool with laughter and popsicles have proved diverting. The sunshine with a side of vitamin D isn’t hurting either.

Those are my favorite things right now, oh and blogging- it’s getting me through and giving me an outlet. Some days, I can’t find the right words and definitely not about the important things. But, even if it’s just about a little bit of coffee and a whole lot of fashion (I really wanted to write latte fashion there;), I love sharing my life with you.

  1. We haven’t tried the marble run you, but my girls do love playing with learning toys. As far as coffee, you know I love it as much as you do. I have a Keurig coffee maker. I love drinking different types of roasts from light to dark.
