The baby is crying, the four year old wants toast but not the piece of toast I made him, the nine year old pouts in the corner about her 30 minutes a day of school work while the six year old whines that she doesn’t get to do enough school. I’m a mom. This is a typical situation in my house. Usually not all at once, but throughout the day at least one or all of these scenarios happen. I’m a mom. If you’re a mom too, you know what I’m talking about. It’s not all glamour (but it is pretty special;). Just because you haven’t slept through the night in ten years or had five minutes to complete a thought doesn’t mean you have to live in yoga pants and athletic tanks. This is actually a relatively new concept to me. I ditched the yoga pants in April and Surprisingly, I haven’t looked back.

Here are my favorite things this week to get you not looking or feeling like a mom:

Warp+Weft Jeans

A couple years ago, I read a post about mom jeans and the biggest factor was the bum. The conclusion said that Gap jeans were a no (unfortunate for me because at the time my favorite jeans were from Gap but I did woefully confirm that the pockets were indeed saggy). I have been looking for the perfect jeans ever since. A couple of times I came close but no cigar.

Until now. When I tell you the bum on Warp+Weft denim sold me I’m not kidding. It’s a combination of their high rise (if you haven’t jumped on the high rise bandwagon- just do it- it’s especially flattering if you have any sort of pear shape or hour glass figure) and amazing stretch. Believe me, after four kids and less than stellar workout habits, I need a little help. Warp+Weft has figured it out and nailed the perfect jeans- for mom, dad, or heck just anyone who wants a comfy pair of denim.

Orthotic Shoes

What? I know, the word orthotic makes you think of nurses and your grandpa but bear with me. You’re going to have your feet forever. So why wait to start taking care of them? (News flash, the shoes you wear don’t just affect your feet but the alignment of your entire body.) I don’t know about you, but just because I want to be comfy, does not mean I want to look like a grandma (not yet please anyway). That’s why abeo footwear from the Walking Company are my pick for this weeks favorite. I have been practically living in these Inez sandals. They’re perfect for by the pool (post coming soon on poolside fashion), running after small children, or date night out! The best part? These shoes are made for your feet- shop by arch support type to get the most comfortable fit for you. I never knew orthotic could look so good.

The Not so Mom Bag

I have a long love affair with all things Thacker NYC and their bags have pretty much stolen my heart. I briefly mentioned this perfect tote on last week’s friday favorites but I can’t get it out of my mind or off my shoulder. This bag is a cute option for a quick run out when you don’t want to carry a bulky tote. That said, I love big bags and I cannot lie. So, I usually switch back to my enormous bags pretty quick but when you’ve got kids- who knows when you might need a diaper, socks, or a collection of hot wheels?

Artisan Soaps

As a mom, taking a shower can sometimes be my only minutes to myself (sometimes not even though I kinda love it when little faces peek around the curtain). I have really sensitive skin so I don’t use many soaps or lotions and am hesitant to try new ones. But, this lemongrass soap from Asterisk Boutique is a spa like experience with the two sides of scrub and the scent lingers and best of all it doesn’t irritate my skin. I’m addicted. I may or may not have bothered my friend Ana until she made more and then bought as much as I thought was fair without keeping all the soap for myself.

Air Fryer

This one I have to admit, I haven’t had the energy to enjoy as much as I would like but I’m excited to get more use out of it. I was skeptical when I made nachos in it- is this really going to be any easier than making them in the oven? But, it was so fast and the clean up was so quick. Can’t wait to give an updated review once I’ve really used it.

This Guy

This one you can’t get any of because he’s all mine. I don’t tell him how much I appreciate him enough (mostly I just whine that I’m all touched out from the kids and can he please just put his socks in the laundry basket- and he puts up with both). But, with Father’s day coming up, he deserves some credit. Not just for being an amazing husband and father (just throwing this out here- we neither of us are perfect so no eye rolling please) but my unfailingly patient blogger husband photographer.

How do you NOT dress like a mom? Think you’re going to jump on any of these buys? Hope you have a fabulous comfortable weekend in a pair of jeans that make your bum look fabulous.

  1. I may be a mom, but I definitely don’t have to dress frumpy. I love wearing a pair of jeans that make my butt look good. If it doesn’t, it’s not the right pair of jeans for me. I put my jeans on every day no matter if I’m going out of the house that day or not. I feel more put together and ready for the day when I do. When I got out, most of the time I wear a nice top with my jeans and I’ll wear jewelry when I have time to put it on. Moms should still look fashionable.

  2. Those flats are super cute! I can’t believe they are orthotic… I am definitely going to check them out! I stand all day at work, so comfortable shoes are a must. That they’re cute is such a bonus.

  3. Those are seriously the nicest jeans Jamie! And daaammmnn you look good in them ^^. Love it. And dad in flats is an amazing photographer ?. You two have really created something awesome! My hubby is my editor and lets me bounce ideas off of him for hours. I don’t know what I’d do without him. So much easier when you have the best team mate ever. Glad you have that too. Sending tons of love your way ♡

  4. You always look so great! Those Jean’s that you traded out your yoga pants for are adorable, and I’m loving the not so mom bag. Perfect for fashionably hiding those ‘mom’ things that I tote around wherever I go. ❤

  5. Girl you are gorgeous!! I totally agree – I have one babe and my day somehow still looks like that!! But I feel so much better if I get up and get dressed in an outfit that makes me feel fab. And if it is comfortable, thats a HUGE bonus. I can’t wait to try those jeans out, they sound like a dream!
