Thank you to Time Slippers for gifting these amazing slipper sneakers (comfy enough to wear around the house, stylish enough to wear all day). Read on to see how they pull together four looks for one streamlined wardrobe.

Really this could be for anyone, not just moms. It’s based on choosing a formula for getting dressed that works for your lifestyle. It streamlines your closet and makes getting dressed so much easier. Don’t know where to start? Let’s dive in.

First, evaluate your lifestyle. Do you work outside the home? Stay at home? Work part time? What activities make up your day to day life. A working woman may need more dressy pieces and fewer pieces of denim. As a stay at home mom, I rarely wear blazers and dressy slacks. I love dresses but in the frigid temps of winter, I rarely choose one to wear in or out of the house. My lifestyle evaluation: comfortable clothing that allows me to do everything from laundry to sitting on the floor in comfort.

Second, evaluate your personal style and shape. What makes you feel good? Flowy tops and leggings or cropped tops and jeans? This would be a good time to determine your body shape. A petite pear is going to have different wardrobe needs than a tall athletic build. I spent most of my life thinking I was a pear. Only upon recent investigations did I realize I’m an hourglass (this just means I have wide hips and a wide rib cage- yay me!). Things that hide my waist tend to make my frame look bulky. According to your style and body type, you may want to accentuate your waist or cover it. My style evaluation: things that accentuate my natural waist and minimize my shoulders.

Third, evaluate your color season. I’ve already covered this, so head over to this post to learn more. Choose colors that accentuate your skin tone and build your closet around those base colors. Choose neutrals as your base regardless of skin tone to make your wardrobe functional season after season. My color evaluation: winter, favors cool tones, building my wardrobe around blacks and greys with tan accents.

Now that you know the style, color, and types of clothing you need, it’s time to clean out your closet. I suggest going through all your drawers and hangers and giving away anything you can’t remember wearing in the last six months. Then, keep a donate bin at the ready and giveaway anything you try on and find doesn’t fit or flatter. If you’re on the fence, remove it from your closet, if it’s in season and you still haven’t reached for it by the end of the season, add it to the donate pile. Donate or sell at least once a month to keep your closet manageable.

  1. Love all of your outfits in this post! Those sneakers look amazing and comfy. I don’t have a lot of clothes to begin but every six months or so I still go through my closet to make sure it’s not getting out of hand. It’s actually more so to remind me that I have enough clothes so that I don’t buy any more! Sometimes it works and others the power of buying is strong! Hehe Happy Friday!
